Bromic Smart-Heat Controls: Dimmers, Wireless Remotes and Home Automation
Here is something that surprises a lot of buyers: Bromic heaters do not come with a switch or remote. Bromic leaves the controller as a separate choice because everyone wants something different, from a simple on/off button to dimming, scheduling and whole-home automation. This guide walks through the options.

On/off or dimmer?
- On/Off controls switch heaters to full power and off. They work with Bromic electric and gas heaters, and can usually control two groups of heaters separately.
- Dimmer controls let you run electric heaters at lower output, for example 25, 50 or 75 percent, so a mild evening is not too hot. Dimmers are for electric heaters; gas heaters are controlled on and off.
The Affinity Smart-Heat collection
Affinity is Bromic's current generation of controls. Both the Affinity On/Off and Affinity Dimmer series pair with the Bromic Heating app for scheduling and grouping heaters, so you can warm the patio before you step outside. An optional Expansion Board adds an ethernet connection and 0 to 10V inputs for building and home automation systems.

Wireless remotes and multi-zone control
- The Wireless On/Off Controller switches gas or electric heaters on two separate circuits from one remote.
- The Wireless Dimmer Controller (electric only) includes a 7-channel remote with quick 25, 50 and 75 percent settings.
- For larger patios and venues, the Master Remote runs an unlimited number of heaters in multiple zones from one handset.
Eclipse heaters have their own controls
The Eclipse combines heat with LED lighting, so it uses dedicated controllers that manage both: the Affinity Eclipse controller or the Eclipse dimmer. The freestanding Eclipse portable already includes a dimmer.
Home automation: Control4, Crestron and more
The Bromic Smart-Heat Link connects Bromic controls to smart-home systems through an RS232 port, including Control4 and Crestron. This is a job for a qualified home automation integrator rather than a DIY install.
How to choose
| Your setup | Good fit |
|---|---|
| One or two electric heaters at home | Affinity Dimmer (or Affinity On/Off for full power only) |
| Gas heaters | Affinity On/Off or Wireless On/Off |
| Several zones or a restaurant | Dimmer controllers plus a Master Remote |
| Eclipse pendant or portable | Affinity Eclipse controller or Eclipse dimmer |
| Whole-home automation | Smart-Heat Link or Affinity Expansion Board, by your integrator |
Choose the controller before your electrician wires the heaters, since it sits between the circuit and the heater. Not sure which fits? Ask us and we will match controls to your heaters.
