Since 1956
The swivel rocker, invented in Wadena
On May 28, 1956, Homecrest founders Mert Bottemiller and Al Engelmann filed the patent for a swivel chair "which provides for a rocking action." It turned and rocked on coil springs, first on an indoor chair, then from 1960 on the patio. Seven decades later the same idea turns and rocks under every Homecrest swivel rocker, in cushion, sling and Air.
